The bank heist thriller film Thunivu, which stars Ajith Kumar, was released in theaters on January 11 and faced competition from the Varisu movie, which stars Thalapathy Vijay. Although both films received mixed reviews from critics, they both ended up being huge commercial successes.
According to trade tracking website Sacnilk, the worldwide gross collection for the action film was Rs 187.60 crore, with a net India collection of Rs 253.75 crore. During the Pongal weekend, the film faced competition from two major Telugu releases, Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy.
For those who missed the chance to see the film in theaters, thunivu OTT release date will be available for streaming on Netflix starting February 8th. Netflix India South announced the news on February 3rd via Twitter, stating that the movie featuring Ajith Kumar will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
The action-filled entertainment film stars Ajith in the role of a bank robber and highlights the issues of greed and corruption in the Indian banking system. Other notable cast members include Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani, Mamathi Chari, John Kokken, Bagavathi Perumal, and Chirag Jani who play significant roles. Directed by H Vinoth and produced by Boney Kapoor through Bayview Projects LLP, the movie promises to be a thrilling ride.

Thunivu marks the third consecutive collaboration between director H Vinoth, superstar Ajith Kumar, and producer Boney Kapoor, following the legal drama Nerkonda Paarvai in 2019 and Valimai in 2022.
