Demonte Colony 2 (also known as Demonte Colony II: Vengeance of the Unholy) is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language supernatural horror film, directed by R. Ajay Gnanamuthu and produced by Bobby Balachandran under the BTG Universal banner, in collaboration with Gnanamuthu Pattarai and White Nights Entertainment. A sequel to the 2015 film Demonte Colony, it features Arulnithi reprising his lead role, with Priya Bhavani Shankar, Archana Ravichandran, Tsering Dorjee, Arun Pandian, Meenakshi Govindarajan, and Sarjano Khalid in supporting roles.
Initially, Venky Venugopal was announced as the director in 2022, but by November, R. Ajay Gnanamuthu stepped in as director, with Venugopal remaining part of the writing team. Principal photography began in November 2022, with the first schedule filmed entirely in Hosur and the rest in Chennai. Filming concluded in late June 2023. The movie’s music is composed by Sam C. On 6 June 2009, Samuel Sam Richard, a cancer survivor, is found hanging alongside his friends, who had fallen from an apartment building. His wife, Debbie, suspects foul play. Tensions rise when Debbie’s mother discovers that Debbie is attempting to conceive using Sam’s preserved sperm through artificial insemination.
Six years later, on 6 June 2015, Debbie, on her way to the inauguration of her Chinese restaurant, witnesses an astrologer’s suicide and crosses paths with Srinivasan Srini. Feeling Sam’s presence, she consults a Daoshi to communicate with Sam’s spirit. Meanwhile, in Hyderabad, Raghunandhan and his half-sister Aishwarya are in a legal battle with their estranged brother Srini over a ₹2,500 crore estate left by their father. While this unfolds, the Daoshi sends Debbie into the spirit world, where she finds Sam trapped and scribbles help. At the same time, Srini, who had fallen to his death years earlier, suddenly awakens. Debbie writes, This will repeat, with a double image of Srini’s face, hinting at a mysterious connection.
On 6 June 2021, six years after Srini’s accident, the Daoshi advises Debbie to perform a Mahakala Mahayana Pooja for Srini, who remains in a vegetative state under the care of Dr. Richard. Raghu, seeking to claim the 70% inheritance, obtains a court order for Srini’s passive euthanasia. However, Debbie warns him that harming Srini will result in his own doom. It is then revealed that Raghu and Srini, born from the same atom, are cosmically linked, destined to die together. This fate is rooted in a 2015 incident, where they both survived a fatal accident.
Dr. Richard and Debbie’s investigation uncovers a mysterious book titled Unsung King of a Fallen Kingdom, which had been read by both Sam and Raghavan. This book, which had only been checked out once in six years, is linked to a series of deaths on 6 June. The book’s last borrower died under mysterious circumstances and the book was returned by a librarian. Further research reveals Raghavan’s script, Demonte Colony, which exposes an evil force tied to a cursed chain that traps the spirits of the dead. Dr. Richard urges Raghu to break the cycle to allow his son’s spirit to rest.
Debbie, Raghu, and Dhayalan attempt to safeguard the Demonte house to prevent anyone from entering and fueling the terror of Demonte. Despite warnings, Raghu, Dhayalan, and an inspector rush into the house after hearing a scream. Inside, they find four captive girls being held by three female ghosts, who vanish as Raghu arrives. Aditi, one of the girls, reveals they were teleported from their hostel after reading the cursed book. Dhayalan’s investigation points to librarian Alphonse as the source of the book. Aditi admits to chanting hymns to acquire the cursed chain, secretly placing it in Raghu’s coat. The Daoshi, fearing for Srini’s life, instructs monks to perform a Mahayana pooja, preparing to use the phurba dagger if needed.
Raghu, Debbie, and the Daoshi get trapped in the restaurant, where they watch a video showing Raghu being possessed and killing them. Dhayalan and Aditi arrive in time to save Debbie. A monk intervenes, using the phurba to halt the human sacrifice. The police arrive, but the cursed chain has once again gone missing. Srini recovers, but Raghu falls into a coma. Debbie reveals that Demonte’s true goal is to perform the sacrifice for a 15th-century Portuguese king, a fact confirmed by Aditi. They discover the haunted house of Alphonse Gerald, the librarian, who had sacrificed himself in a twisted ritual to appease Demonte. Photos of annual sacrifices linked to Demonte expose the sinister cycle.
In rural Bihar, a mysterious figure believed to be Alphonse is seen limping, carrying photos of his victims. He kills another person, offering the sacrifice to Satan. Srini resolves to find him, uncover the truth about his family’s connection to Demonte, and end the curse by 6 June 2027.
